Creative Mornings w/ Ji Lee
This morning I headed to Galapogos in Dumbo to see Ji Lee talk at Creative Mornings. I normally do fine in the mornings, not a coffee drinker or a slow starter, and so I usually don’t know how to reply to everyone talking about the fact that it’s (surprise!) the morning. This morning though I was a little more tired due to accidentally staying up really late working on a personal project. The personal project is all very exciting and I’ll be revealing it soon, however I wanted to point it out because that happened to be the theme of Lee’s talk: personal projects and how they’re awesome. While his talk covered his own work history, it revolved around the theme of bringing his personal/side projects together with his work. That if you focus on personal projects, and spend the time and energy that you really want to spend on them, then they will often come back to help you in (or be your) “professional” life. Also, his work is very conceptual, which I tend to get more excited about. Be sure to check out the video when it surfaces on the Creative Mornings Vimeo page, it’s definitely worth a creative’s time.
